◆Public Lecture◆
Title: “Learning from the immune system: From antibodies to peptide drugs for molecular-targeting therapy”
Speaker: Ikuo Fujii, Ph.D., Specially Appointed Professor,
Organization for Research Promotion, Osaka Metropolitan University, Japan)
Time: 12/04/2024 (Wed), 10:00-12:00
◆Speaker Introduction◆
Professor Fujii’s research primarily focuses on constructing libraries of proteins and peptides with specialized biological properties through the strategy of Directed Evolution. This strategy significantly reduces the time needed to develop novel catalytic antibodies and molecularly targeted peptides with high activity, establishing Professor Fujii as a prominent figure in the field of peptide-based drug development.
His accolades include the Pharmaceutical Society of Japan Award for Young Scientists (1996); the 5th. Monodzukuri Nippon Grand Award: The Japanese METI Minister’s Prize (2013).
From 2013 to 2018, he served as the Dean of the Faculty of Science at Osaka Prefecture University and from 2018 to 2022 as the Vice President for International Affairs, where he facilitated substantive academic collaborations between the university and global institutions.
